Well That Was Trippy

I've got a new way of deciding if a song's good or not. Open my window, turn up the speakers and see what the people of Stockton, England think. They quite liked it. HOWEVER, I do have some issues with it.

The fade out at 1:12 seems too sudden, there was hardly any transition. If you opened this up a bit not only would you increase the length of the song but it'd just sound better.

The glitch at 1:55 was great but, again, if you lengthened it out and made it more rhythmic then I think it'd work better.

I really love the mane leads you have going here (2:30). They complement each other very well, but I think you have some mastering issues. The second lead (sounds like a square) may need to be turned down a bit. Sounds like it's drowning everything else out.

Everything else works great. The outro's brilliant and a good way to end things

Overall, Ima giving this 8/10, it's great but still needs work. 5/5 because all publicity is good publicity. ^^

Hey J3envolio!

LOL, you exposed my song like that? Awesome haha xD. Please do so with the other tracks of mine aswell ;)!

And while I see what you mean, most of these things you mention I already looked into and thanks to it I have learned what I should and shouldn't do in future songs (keep in mind this one's uploaded almost a year ago :P. I barely gave this song any mixing or mastering whatsoever, which I since then have learned is very important!). Still, thanks a lot for taking interest and giving critics, they're always welcome!

Thanks!

Well that was nice!

3:18 = EPIC

That's simply all I have to say on the matter;

Drums

They're often overlooked when it comes to NewGrounds yet they can be brilliantly placed if they're given the right amount of attention.

Unfortunately, I feel that you've given them too much attention and the beat that you've chosen to use is very glitchy. Now admittedly this worked very well at 0:51 but once the drop happened it felt very out of place, with the drum syncopation at the end of every 4 bars. It's a good idea but I think this track would sound better and more full if you'd stuck to the general drum & bass drum line.

Apart from that, this is an excellent track! Loving the gritty feel you've given it and very much like the 8-bit synths you've used through-out. I have to say that I do agree with you on that synth sounding as though it's whispering.

I've never listened to any of yoru stuff before so I'm not sure how dark this is but I'll give them an ear after this!

Thanks for a brilliant review.

As you hear at the end of every 2nd bar I've done a very marking syncopation. Not only the drums but the bass aswell. The drum beat is the essence of what DnB is so I thought I'd add something new to it, thus adding the very marking syncopes at every (actually it's not every but still...) 2-bar-end. To make the song more of my own if you know what I mean. Personally I think it adds a very "jumpy" feeling to the song and personally I find it very ear-soothing in a sense. You know, a very catchy feel to the beat. Glitchy? Please explain further :)

Could aswell mention I add fills here and there to add some general variety. Anyway, I definetly see what you mean about the general drum beat, but personally I thought it would've sound really well like they are now when I first submitted the song. I'll take your criticism in consideration for my upcoming songs.

And dude, you being this constructive at (what personally is) my best song, you're gonna flame my other three songs to death xD. You should avoid Altocumulus if you're not into "glitchy" drums ;)

Anyway, thanks again for this review. I think it's the best I got for this song so a big + to you :p. I'm glad you enjoyed the song and I hope the drums don't ruin your "Susurration-experience" :)

PS: Could aswell point out that this song is by far my darkest ;p

Bloody Scary! In a good way - J3en

Well it's definatly different! Doesn't sound anything like your other Halloween tracks really. Very gritty, dirty and above all awesome!

I love the mix of wet, gritty synth's you've got going and the drum line fits perfectly, but it wouldn't hurt to alter it in places (I'll get onto that). The sound FX were brilliantly scary and fitted brilliantly! Also, the bell sound at the end was beautifully placed. The drop at 00:30 was epic, to say the least.

What I think you could change could be the laughing. Don't get me wrong it's a good sample and you've used it well, I just think that you used it a bit too much. The drums, they could do with a bit of variation. Maybe double up the time so as to make it more up-beat towards to end. I'd use the drop at 01:36 if this were my track.

Above all, another epicly scary track you've managed to make Axe! Definatly going on my Halloween playlist.

thanks for the review dude. I updated a bunch of it and fixed the vocals, ill PM you to let you know.

Quality Track!

Brilliant all the way through mate! Cracking bassline, awesome main riffs you've got going and the drums work too!

The only way I could critisize this, is that the snare drum seems a little empty. This may just be me but I think it lacks depth and seems too boring. Plus, a few fills here and there wouldn't hurt.

Appart from that, an all round epic track! If you make any changes let me know!

Definitely Club Worthy.

A brilliant track mate. Just a couple of things that I noticed that stop it from being a 10 for me.

The main riff/loop on the square synth is a little to repetitive. I like the variations that you've done with it but I think that gradually changing it throughout the track would improve it a lot! Also, the ending was a bit pants compared to the rest of the song. Now I don't know whether you did that because you designed it to mix into another track but at the moment it just sounds a little damp and dull.

LOVED the panning of the hats. I noticed it about half way through and it just made me laugh. A brilliant idea. Plus, the intro with the piano was a brilliant touch to bring in the main riff/loop.

Overall man, a brilliant track that I would like to hear in the clubs!

Love it!

Awesome use of the vo-coder there. Also, the bit at 2:29 was epic when the vocals shot up was quality!

The only thing I can say about it, is that I think it's to slow. I don't know what BPM you've got it at but I'd say knock it up by about 20 and it'll sound more lively and full. At the moment it seems to just be the vox, a kit line and a couple of 8 bit synths which sounds kind of empty to me.

All in all, a great track,

Possibly Awesome.

Bloody brilliant mate! Loving how the Dub Synth came after the sample at 0:48s.

The only criticism I can make of it, is that it's way to short.

It'd be good to add some more samples later on or so. The sample you've used there is really good and fits nicely but more would defiantly go down well.

Let me know if you edit it;

Reignee responds:

thanks man, i'm working on it , it's just that my inspiration comes day by day, hoping it will be finished tomorrow/the weekend, i'll let you know :)

Replace it.

It's a good little loop but it doesn't fit in the Drum and Bass section. I'd put it in somewhere like, Ambient or Trance, defiantly not D&B. Apart from that, it's a good little tune. Nothing to special. There's very little to comment on really other than variation would have been nice.

Need's Repositioning

Let's start off this review then. The build up is very nice and effective, but I think it may have dragged on a bit more than it should have. I started to get bored after 1 minute of build ups.

The transition between the ambient it a little bit to sudden I think. It all seams to happen within the space of about 2 seconds. Although it's nice to have a change from the ambient fade in's.

The dubstep could do with a little more work and variation I think. Nice drums but I just don't think it's deep enough to be a D&B tune. I think this really should go in under ambient rather than Drum and Bass.

The transition from dubstep to ambient at the end was a bit sharp to, no real build up.

It's not bad though. Fairly creative, it just lacks certain things that should make it into D&B tune. Replace it into ambient, and you've got a top tune there.
